[Zsámboky János] Sambuc[us], Ioann[e]s: Emblemata, cum aliquot nummis antiqui operis, Ioannis Sambuci Tirnaviensis Pannoniii.
The first edition of the first emblem book written in Latin by a Hungarian author. The volume contained 167 wooden engraving emblems. In the appendix of the book, the author published the reproductions of 46 selected pieces of his valuable medals collection, many of which he had acquired in France from Jean Grolier, the famous bibliophile. In 18th century half leather, spine gilt. The first edition of this book is so rare that it has not appeared at auction in Hungary since 1920.
