Alfred Friedl was a Passau restorer, sculptor and possibly also an upholsterer, active in the 1920s. The sculptor and restorer Ludiwika Braun was his student. Together with the Passau artist Konrad Schmid, Friedl designed the Brother Konrad Fountain on the market square in Perlesreut, which was moved to the church in 1972. Friedl was friends with and influenced by Carry Hauser and Georg Philipp Wörlen.
