Jelzés balra lent: Lieder fecit 1838 (a kövön), középen: Galánthai Fekete Mihály, a kép hátoldalán: 1820-1871, kőnyomat, papír, paszpartúban. A kép mérete: 23,5 cm x 19,5 cm.A kép mérete paszpartúban: 44,2 cm x 30,2 cm.

A kép alkotója: Lieder Frigyes [Friedrich Johann Gottlieb Lieder] (1780-1859) német származású magyar festő, litográfus, a bécsi Képzőművészeti Akadémia tagja. Főleg akvarelljeiről és portréiról vált híressé, a reformkor kedvelt és sokat foglalkoztatott arcképfestője volt. Modelljei között olyan korabeli hírességek is megtalálhatók, mint pl. Batthyány Lajos, József nádor és Ferenc József császár.
A portrén galánthai Fekete Mihály (1784-1866) novii püspök, nagyprépost, esztergomi kanonok és érseki helynök látható. 1857-ben (más források szerint 1859-ben) Szent István-rendet és bárói címet kapott.
