A mű Szirmay Antal „Jus reipublicae in bona ecclesiasticorum”
című tanulmányára való válaszként, szerzője azok közé tartozott,
akit Szirmaynak nem sikerült meggyőznie. Az ügyes tollú író
terjedelmesen és elmésen igyekszik Szirmay álláspontjának tarthatatlanságát
kimutatni, dorgáló modorban figyelmezteti is, hogy
a klérus mindenkor óriási áldozatokkal járult a közművelődési
intézmények fenntartásához.
